Read Rock County Case Codes

Do not treat a complaint as a final result. It states allegations supporting the filed charges. Later entries can record an amended count, dismissal, plea, trial finding, or sentence.
How a Criminal Case Moves
Rock County cases may start with an arrest or summons. The initial appearance addresses the charge, rights, and release conditions. A felony can include a preliminary hearing before information and arraignment. Pretrial motions and negotiations follow. The case then ends through dismissal, plea, or trial, followed by judgment and sentence when guilt is found.

Rock County Expungement Case Records
Wisconsin expungement under Wis. Stat. § 973.015 is narrow and must generally be ordered at sentencing. It is not the same as redacting a protected identifier. When an existing sentencing order and successful completion support relief, the clerk follows the court-record process. Independently held agency or Wisconsin DOJ records do not always vanish with the court index.

Wisconsin Public Records Law begins with a strong access presumption. Court access still has limits. Federal Cases Beyond Rock County
A federal prosecution involving conduct in Rock County does not become a Rock County Circuit Court file. It belongs to the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin.
